What is an entomologist?
Even if you think you know the answer to that question, the ‘What is an entomologist?‘ project may challenge your perceptions!
This project is showcasing and celebrating the diversity within the entomological community through digital and physical displays. This is inspired by the “What is a Scientist?” project, run by Dr Emma Waters, which showcased the diversity of people involved in research at the Quadram Institute, Norwich. Similarly, projects like “500QueerScientists” and “Picture a Scientist” have demonstrated the importance of representation, celebration and open discussion around the diversity within research contexts.
The project is generating short profiles of entomologists across the broad diversity of entomology, which are being presented on a purpose-built website and in physical displays for presentation across various venues and events nationwide.
If you’re an entomologist, why not add a profile to the project?
Massive congratulations to Ben, Rosy and their team for their incredible work in securing Royal Entomological Society funding for this exciting new project! As an outgoing RES student representative, Ben successfully led the application alongside his fellow RES student representatives, our very own Rosy Christopher, Ayman Asiri, Vera Kaunath and Idris Adams. The new RES Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Grants will be supporting a diversity of exciting and innovative projects over the coming years!
